Aaron ARROWSMITH was and English cartographer. Appointed Hydrographer to the Prince Regent (Later King). Engraver and publisher on his own account. He was born in County Durham. Moved to London at the age of about 20. He worked as a land surveyor and then began work for such as John Cary. By the age of 40, he had his own premises and business. Many of the maps he produced were large scale, this Atlas being one of the smaller works, the overall size of the maps being around 9x11 inches (230x290 mm).
