Some background reading about Cumberland and the prints
Cumberland, or Cumbria is a northern county of England, it's northernmost border is with Scotland, to the east Northumberland and Durham and to the south Westmoreland and Lancashire. It contains part of the Lake District and is full of picturesque scenery.
Cumberland has been an inspiration to children's writers such as Beatrix Potter and Arthur Ransome and has even been referred to as 'Peter Rabbit Country'.
Carlisle is considered to be the Capital of Cumbria and at one time (when it was a border city) was surrounded by robust city walls and had a Castle made of red sandstone. Both of these landmarks can be seen today although the city has now grown beyond the walls. As an old English city, Carlise has many quaint lanes and the castle contains numerous passages and chambers.
The prints listed below accurately depict the beautiful scenery to be found in this, one of Britain's most beautiful regions including images of the lakes. Click on the links below to view these attractive prints.
