WHAT IS AN ANTIQUE MAP ?
1. We only offer GENUINE ANTIQUE MAPS - we do not deal in modern reproductions.
2. The earliest maps we offer were printed in about 1550, the latest in around 1899.
3. During this period of some 350 years, Map Making, (or Cartography, as it is called), combined the advances in knowledge gained from explorers such as Columbus, Magellan, Cabot and so many others, with the talents of the foremost artists of the day. Their legacy to us is not purely a record of the exploration of our planet, but an amazing collection of highly decorative maps, which can be framed to grace the walls of every home and work place.
4. Antiquarian maps may be of the whole World, Continents, or of individual countries. They include old Sea Charts, historical plans of Towns and Cities and even very decorative Celestial Charts of the heavens.
5. Prices can range up to many thousands of dollars for a very rare early map, to but a few dollars for an attractive 19th Century example. You can start your collection from as little as $ 15 !
