VIGNETTE VIEWS
This Page is provided as a REFERENCE RESOURCE - it is NOT an Inventory.
Before I retired,
Postaprint supplied picture framers and antiquarian map & print dealers
for over 25 years. The inventory
encompassed examples of the
cartographer's art from the 16th to the 19th century, along with
topographical engravings, lithographs and etchings by
leading artists of their generation. You can Search
my wife's eBay Store Database for historic maps,
views, and engravings on virtually every subject,
including Vanity Fair (Spy) Cartoons. All our offers are genuine
old and historical items on a wide range of subjects.
All are
suitable for framing by Art Galleries, Shops and Fine Art Retailers.

NEWMAN & CO - 24 VIEWS OF BRIGHTON c.1875.
Newman and Co were seemingly competitors with Rock & Co. and produced a large range of view books of many town and cities in England & Wales. This example has an overall size of some 7x4.5 inches. Engraved area about4x3 inches.
PEACH R.F: VIEWS OF BATH - c.1850
An example of a local Bookseller commissioning 'custom' work. Overall size some 7x5 inches.
ROCK & CO - LOWER MARINE PARADE & PIER MARGATE - 1868
Rock and Co. produced a large series of local views for many parts of Great Britain. Overall size normally around 7x5 inches.
We can usually offer a good selection of collectible and genuine antique vignette views of the British Isles, indeed we have a particular penchant for these delightful prints.
The great appeal of this style of engraving is that they can be mounted (matted) in ovals and therefore are that much more attractive when framed.
