THE ENGRAVINGS HAVE AN OVERALL SIZE OF SOME 7.5x5 INCHES, WITH AN ENGRAVED ARE OF ABOUT 5.5x3.5 INCHES.
William WESTALL (1781-1850)
Born in Hertford, he was the younger brother of Richard, who also became a Member of the Royal Academy. Although he travelled extensively to Australia, China and India, his principal work appeared in Great Britain Illustrated published by Thos.Moule in c.1830. This contained some 121 fine views, which were engraved on steel. A shortened version was also published under the title The Landscape Album, in 1832. It contained 60 views of the original views.
Westall contributed to such as Ackermann's Repository and Picturesque Tour of the River Thames.
Some detailed BIBLIOGRAPHY appeared in Early English Watercolours published by Iolo Williams in 1850 - if you can find a copy !
