The book begins with 'A Glance at its History', revealing that Boston was called 'SHAWMUTT' by the Indians.
The colonists of 1630 called it Trimountaine. A Public School was voted for by the Town in 1635, 3 years
before the founding of Harvard, which nevertheless was to have a profound influence on the city.

The 143 page Guide is crammed with fascinating historical details & information about the City.
We are informed that there is a folding map inserted inside the back cover, regretfully missing from the copy we have reviewed.
