CONTENTS AND DESCRIPTION
The Introductory Notice begins : 'In a city like Glasgow, which has been
indebted for so much of its prosperity to the enterprise of times gone by,
there will, doubtless, many a one be found, to whom even the humblest traces
of its appearance in former days will prove far from devoid of interest...'
If those words were try in the mid 19th century, how much more so today
!
The text, of course contains fascinating detail about individual buildings,
whilst the coloured Lithographs are produced to a very high standard.
They depict parts of the city as it was in the 18th century, as well as more
'recent' additions in the mid 19th.
Printed by William Rankin, 62 Argyll Street, Glasgow, which perhaps is why
the illustrations include several of Argyll Street itself!
