Our stock comprises genuine original antiquarian maps and authentic historical engravings, printed at the dates stated. We do NOT deal in modern reproductions.

J. Migeon, (French cartographer,) produced atlases in the late 19th century. He had two main publications which were Geographie Universelle and Nouvel Atlas. These were published in 1864-74 and 1891 respectively.

The maps themselves range from being quite plain with no vignettes, to highly decorative. The most ornate examples are the maps which relate to the divisions within France themselves. These, in particular are very similar to the maps produced by another French cartographer Victor Levasseur. Most of the maps that Migeon produced are decorated with vignettes which illustrate the area and era depicted. These vignette images are not merely topographical but enable the viewer to get a glimpse of the history of the country shown in the map.
