A few facts about Rand, McNally & Co.

Rand, McNally & Co. was founded in 1856 and have been publishing maps since 1862.

The maps in this particular atlas are accompanied by interesting text about each individual state/territory. As well as many of the countries depicted, with decorative vignettes. The information appears to be comprehensive and well researched. Especially with reference to the United States.

The company is still active today and its headquarters are situated in Suburbot Skokie, Illinois.
