William CAMDEN (1551-1623) was a historian and Antiquarian. His Britannia first appeared in 1607. The maps which had appeared in Saxton's Atlas of England and Wales in 1579, we re-drawn by Kip and Hole to a much smaller format. Subsequent editions appeared with the Kip/Hole maps up to 1637. At the end of the Century, 1695, Britannia was re-issued with Rober Morden maps, and later still, under the same title, maps by John CARY we introduced - 1789 & 1806.
