Some Background Information on the maps.

The maps in this atlas are clear and precise. They show the mountains, principal towns and roads within each county. The title page is adorned with beautiful script calligraphy and a vignette view of a coastal region with cherub-like children in the foreground, outlining the general produce of Ireland.

SAMUEL LEWIS & CO. was a company of cartographers, based at: 87 Aldersgate Street and 13 Finsbury Place South, London. In addition to issuing maps of ireland, the company has also published Topographical Dictionary of England - 1831-48 and Plan of London & Environs - 1850.
