THIS FASCINATING AND FAIRLY SCARCE ATLAS, CONTAINS 50 DELIGHTFULLY DECORATIVE MINIATURE MAPS OF COUNTRIES OF THE WORLD.

Overall size of the maps is around 5.5x3.25 inches, with an engraved area of approx. 12.5x7 cms. The 2 which appear on both the Front & rear cover are about 10.5x7 inches overall

he Arbuckle Coffee Company issued many of these maps together with Views of the principal cities of the world by way of promotional Trade Cards. The cards themselves, although still on offer are almost inevitably in worn condition, whereas the Chromolithograph Maps from the Atlas are mostly in excellent condition.
Each map gives the area of the country with its population at the time printed. The maps are highly decorative being enhanced with local scenes, views, trades, etc.
An excellent and refreshing addition to any cartographic collector's portfolio.

CONTENTS AND DESCRIPTION

Karl Baedeker was born in Essen, Germany on 11/3/1801. He began publishing his now world famous travel guides in Coblenz (Koblenz) in 1827. He died 10/4/1859. The business was continued through the generations by his family.

These Guides contained general maps of each country along with Town & City plans.

The business of publishing travel guides flourishes still.
