SCARCE ANTIQUE MAPS BY A. M. MALLET - 1683

Allain Manneson MALLET. (1630-1706), was an engineer and master of Mathematics. Joined the Army in Portugal before returning to Paris, France where he was to embark on the immense task of publishing maps and plans of the whole of the known world at that time.

SCARCITY RATING: 4 = SCARCE.
PROVENANCE: Published in Description de l'Univers in 1683/6.

PROVENANCE: Benjamin MAUND.  THE FRUITIST;   A Treatise On Orchard And Garden Fruits, Their Description, History, And Management.    Published in London by Groombridge And Sons.
Maund ran a Pharmacy. He was also a botanist and seller of books.
He is best known for THE BOTANIC GARDEN, a series a very fine flower/floral prints, which he began as a periodical in 1825.
