An excellent series of views
in the English County of Lancashire in the first half of the 19th century.. Fine
architecture, historic landmarks, stately homes and mansions, with farm animals,
such as sheep and cattle grazing the pastures of the parks, churches, houses and
labourers' cottages. Several show Factories, which at that time encompassed
textiles, especially cotton manufacture. Most depict interesting figures dressed in the fashions of
the time, while others are enhanced by the inclusion of horses, coaches and carts, ships, fishing,
hunting, shooting and good landscapes. There are some views of
places in
Cheshire &
Cumbria, where the boundaries of some counties have changed over the years.
