Board of Trade

Large antique 19th century sea charts by the Board of Trade, a British government body concerned with commerce and industry. Its full title is "The Lords of the Committee of the Privy Council appointed for the consideration of all matters relating to Trade and Foreign Plantations". Initially concerned with colonial matters and mercantile marine commerce in the 17th century, it developed a powerful regulatory role in the Victorian Era. We stock a small selection of marine charts concerned with maritime trade and navigation in the Atlantic Ocean, published in 1859.
