CAPTION PRINTED BELOW PICTURE: London Transport - Underground diagram of lines - 1961 [561/1524/Z/500M (9/61)]

This edition of the Underground diagram by Harold Hutchison has been completely redrawn from the version by H C Beck. Where there is a change of direction, the lines on this map have sharp angles instead of curves. There is more liberal use of lines at 45 degree angles. Interchanges are represented as single circles with no white line interconnectors, and main line stations are shown as squares. The layout of the map has been revised to make it more geographically correct, as shown by the decrease in distance between Wimbledon and Morden Stations. Termini and interconnecting station names have been printed in upper case; other station names are in lower case. Stations which are closed on Sundays or open during rush hours are indicated by a symbol.
