The headquarters building of 1894–95 served the Post Office until 1984 and is now Nomura House, with financial offices rebuilt within the historic exterior. Postman's Park takes its name from the postmen who rested there, and it holds Watts's Memorial to Heroic Self-Sacrifice of 1900. On the sheet, the site of Christ Church Greyfriars with St Leonard Foster marks Wren's church, which was gutted in December 1940 and has been a public garden since 1989. By contrast, St Botolph without Aldersgate, rebuilt in 1788–91, remains in use. Goad's plans were made to assess property and fire risk, and they were kept current with pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The latest dated correction on this sheet is a basement vacancy at 5 Little Britain, dated September 1969. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in April 1958, with a 1958 copyright date, and the key plans acquired with it carry corrections as late as October 1970 and March 1971. The sheet shows the St Bartholomew's Hospital in-patients department, nurses' home and swimming pool, which then made the district strongly institutional. The hospital saw off closure in the 1990s and was rebuilt by 2016. In Arthur Conan Doyle’s A Study in Scarlet (1887), Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson first meet in a laboratory at St Bartholomew’s Hospital. St Bartholomew the Great staged the final wedding in Four Weddings and a Funeral, while 41–42 Cloth Fair, which date from about 1614, are the City's only houses to survive the Great Fire. The headquarters of the insurers' London Salvage Corps, built on Aldersgate Street in 1960, was demolished after the corps disbanded in 1984. Former hospital buildings around Little Britain and Bartholomew Close are now Barts Square, completed in 2020, with homes, offices, shops and restaurants. Goad's plans were compiled to rate property and fire risk, and they were kept current with pasted slips recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in April 1950, with a 1950 copyright date, and it carries a latest dated correction of September 1969. A priory of 1371 and Thomas Sutton's almshouse since 1611, it is drawn court by court, with its chapel and Great Hall, Master's Court, Preachers' Court and Wash House Court. In 1952 the Great Hall and Master's Court, which had been burnt out in the Blitz, were midway through their 1950–59 restoration. The almshouse still houses its Brothers, and it opened a museum in January 2017. St Bartholomew's Medical College, which has been in the former school buildings since 1933, remains a Barts medical campus. The station is labelled Aldersgate and Barbican, a name that was dropped in December 1968. The corner of Long Lane and Lindsey Street now holds Farringdon's Elizabeth line ticket hall, which opened in May 2022. The mantle factory in Glasshouse Yard, gown and millinery premises and nearby typesetters reveal a working district of clothing and print trades beside the Charterhouse. Glasshouse Yard later became home to Audible's UK headquarters and recording studios, bringing digital audio publishing into this former manufacturing quarter. Kept for insurers rating property and fire risk, the sheet carries pasted slips recording changed uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding, and its latest dated correction is March 1970. It was resurveyed and reissued in June 1952, with a 1952 copyright date, and key plans acquired with the group were corrected as late as October 1970 and March 1971. This is the \"obsolete\" edition, which records the new London Wall road and car park under construction in November 1959 through an older warehouse district. The sheet shows Battersby's hat warehouse, cotton-yarn premises and a railway goods shed north of the new road. These details evoke the trading and distribution quarter that was then being swept away around Silver Street, Monkwell Street, Castle Street, Fell Street, Nicholl Square and Wood Street Square. Barbers' Hall, burnt out in 1940, reopened on Monkwell Square in 1969, and St Anne and St Agnes church is now the VOCES8 Centre. The sheet also names Haberdashers' Hall, the Metropolitan Telephone Exchange, the Nestle offices, St Mary Staining churchyard and Northern House. The plan was made for fire-risk assessment and updated with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building. This sheet was reissued in November 1932, with a 1949 copyright date, and its latest dated correction is from November 1959. The replacement edition of November 1960, which shows larger office blocks, Lee House, Monkwell Square and the rebuilt Barbers' Hall, places the end of this sheet's regular updating at about 1960. Barber Surgeons' Hall opened in 1969 and Plaisterers' Hall in 1972, while Lee House gave way to Alban Gate in 1990–92.
