Holford and Wright's 1950 scheme numbered a bus station, a broad new Guildhall Street, a New Emmanuel Street, sections of relief road, a new bridge near Magdalene, shops and a garage near Park Street, and an eventual new bridge at Mill Lane. Few were built as drawn: the Lion Yard redevelopment of the 1970s took a different course, and the bridges never came.
