Twentieth Century Fox's Soho Square film offices, purpose-built in 1936, emptied when Fox left in 2020. The sheet shows small offices, film premises and stores filling the blocks around Great Chapel Street and Dean Street, where the Elizabeth line's entrance of 2022 replaced dense commercial fabric with transport infrastructure. From 1968 to 1981 St Anne's Court held Trident Studios, where the Beatles recorded Hey Jude and Bowie made Ziggy Stardust. Aston Webb's French Protestant Church of 1893 still serves its congregation, and Dryden Chambers and GPO offices are also marked. Goad's plans were kept to assess property and fire risk, and they were corrected with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The latest dated correction is October 1970, and a later pencil note records 116–128 Wardour Street as all demolished in 1972. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in November 1960, with a 1960 copyright date, and the key plan acquired with the group records corrections to October 1970. Other streets on the sheet include Oxford Street, Soho Street, Hollen Street, Fareham Street, Sheraton Street, Carlisle Street, Frith Street and Bateman Street.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0923/9583/1643/files/P-9-001093a_5597167f-6527-4591-8c8c-b43566b1172c.jpg?v=1792148984
goad-london-257-se1-westminster-bridge-rd-canterbury-music-hall-1889-c1971-map-p-9-001252
Goad London 257—SE1—Westminster Bridge Rd—Canterbury Music Hall 1889 (c1971) map

Charles Goad Insurance Plan of London, sheet 257 [Westminster Bridge Road, Lower Marsh, Canterbury Music Hall and the Necropolis railway premises — uncoloured outline]

Goad's uncoloured outline fire insurance plan of London, sheet 257, covers Westminster Bridge Road and Lower Marsh in Waterloo (SE1), and it preserves Canterbury Music Hall, which Charles Morton opened in 1852. The hall was bombed in 1942 and demolished in 1955, and its site now holds the Canterbury House flats. Nearby, the sheet shows the London Necropolis and Woking Cemetery Company premises, whose funeral trains ran to Brookwood until the Blitz of 1941, along with the London and South Western Railway, York Road Chapel and artisans' dwellings. The sheet is drawn in outline, with less occupancy and risk detail than the coloured plans, and it keeps the earlier commercial layout. Later coloured revisions show the theatre site as a car park, alongside an older sectional diagram. Risk plans of this kind were updated with pasted slips recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The printed base heading is dated June 1889, and no copyright date is visible. Pasted revisions are present, but none of them carries a date. A key plan acquired with the same group records corrections to March 1971.
