Here the cleared plot marked as the National Theatre site was then still awaiting Denys Lasdun's building of 1969–76, which was listed Grade II* in 1994. On the sheet, Cornwall House is still labelled for H.M. Stationery Office and government offices, with Post Office telephones also marked, and the building is now King's College London's Franklin-Wilkins Building. The Royal Waterloo Hospital for Children and Women, which closed in 1976, is now student accommodation, and these two changes, at Cornwall House and the hospital, show this stretch becoming a district of culture and education. These plans were made to assess property and fire risk, and they took pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building, while earlier outline editions keep more of the wharf layout. The National Film Theatre beneath Waterloo Bridge, which opened in 1957, is the latest alteration identified, and it indicates an amended state of about 1957 or later. The printed base heading is dated June 1889, with a 1950 copyright date, and no later correction carries a date. The key plan acquired with the same group records corrections to March 1971. Stationery Office setting. Built between 1912 and 1915 for the Stationery Office, the block is now King's College London's Franklin-Wilkins Building, and it links the area's government supply functions with its later university teaching and research. In the sheet's day, Bridge Wharf, Letts Wharf and the riverside draw docks marked the working frontage on the River Thames, and the sheet also names Post Office telephones. The pasted National Film Theatre outline beneath Waterloo Bridge corresponds to the venue that opened in 1957, which has been BFI Southbank since 2007. That outline is the latest alteration identified, and it represents a correction of about 1957 or later to the 1925 framework. Outline plans record footprints and plot divisions with less detail of occupancy and risk than the coloured plans, which assessors kept current with pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts and rebuilding. Later coloured revisions of the plan record further clearance towards the National Theatre site. The key plan acquired with the same group records corrections to March 1971. Along the River Thames the sheet shows Shot Tower Wharf, Commercial Wharf, Phoenix Wharf, Bowater's Wharf, Thorne Wharf, Moore's Wharf and Prince's Wharf. The name Shot Tower Wharf recalls the square shot tower built east of Waterloo Bridge soon after 1782. A later coloured revision shows these plots cleared for the London Weekend Television centre, which was under construction in March 1971. The centre opened in 1972, and ITV closed it on 30 April 2018. Demolition began in January 2025, and an office scheme is planned there for 2029. Outline editions were made for fire-risk assessment, and they give footprints and plot divisions rather than occupancies. Goad kept these plans current with pasted slips recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The sheet bears a December 1925 reprint date, and although pasted revisions are present, no correction on it carries a date. Key plans acquired with the group were corrected as late as March 1971.
