On the sheet, Chappell & Co's music showrooms and printing premises, together with the Steinway & Sons showrooms, reveal Bond Street's musical trade of the time, alongside art and luxury goods. Chappell moved to Wardour Street in 2006, and Steinway now sells from Marylebone Lane, so both specialist trades have shifted within the West End. The Aeolian Hall, BBC Variety's home from 1943, is now Brunello Cucinelli's flagship. Explicitly named as a BBC hall on the sheet, it was still a studio at the final revision; the Beatles recorded two editions of Pop Go The Beatles here on 10 July 1963. The Fine Art Society, which had been there since 1876, closed in August 2018, and Vogue House lost Condé Nast in 2024. St George's Church of 1721–25, where Handel worshipped, remains an active parish. At 23 Brook Street, Jimi Hendrix lived in an upper-floor flat from July 1968 to March 1969, next door to No. 25, George Frideric Handel’s home from 1723 until his death in 1759. Both addresses now form part of Handel Hendrix House. Goad's plans were made to assess property and fire risk, and they were revised with pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. A vacancy annotation dated October 1970 is the latest dated correction on the sheet. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in November 1958, with a 1958 copyright date, and the key plan acquired with this group records corrections to October 1970. Other streets on the sheet include St George Street, Brook Street, Maddox Street, Conduit Street, Grosvenor Street, Bruton Street, Avery Row, Bourdon Street and Hanover Street.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0923/9583/1643/files/P-9-001088a_25cd8107-2c78-441b-907b-13228c6373d2.jpg?v=1792148978
goad-london-221-w1-soho-regent-st-carnaby-st-liberty-savile-row-1946-1970-map-p-9-001089
Goad London 221—W1—Soho—Regent St—Carnaby St—Liberty—Savile Row 1946 (1970) map

Charles Goad Insurance Plan of London, sheet 221 [Regent Street, Carnaby Street, Liberty and Dickins & Jones]

Goad's fire insurance plan of London, sheet 221, covers Regent Street and Great Marlborough Street (W1), in the sheet's day the home of Dickins & Jones and Liberty. Dickins & Jones is shown filling a large block, with workrooms and packing space behind the selling floors. Trading ceased in January 2006, and the building became shops, offices and a rooftop restaurant, an example of the single-occupier department store in retreat. Liberty & Co still trades from its Tudor-revival building of 1924, timbered from the warships HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan. Carnaby Street was pedestrianised in October 1973, and St Thomas's Church in Kingly Street, Tenison's chapel of 1702, has since been demolished, while Government offices are also marked. Goad's plans were made to assess property and fire risk, and they were kept current with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building. There it was close to the garment trade it served, before its move in September 2023 to the new cultural and educational district at East Bank, Stratford. British Home Stores' chain collapsed in 2016, while Regent Hall, the skating rink that William Booth bought in 1882, is still a Salvation Army centre. National Provincial Bank's name had merged into National Westminster Bank on 1 January 1970, before the final corrections were made. In October 2022 Hanover Square gained the Elizabeth line's Bond Street ticket hall.
