That residency ran from 1963 until the company's South Bank building opened in 1976. Roupell Street's terraces were built from the 1820s and have been protected since 1976. The sheet shows them near the Peabody Buildings, the Ipsden Buildings artizans' dwellings, St Andrew's Church and School, and Christ Church, which was rebuilt in 1958–59 after the Blitz. The sheet also shows Southwark College, the Wootton Street day nursery and the I.P.C. Business Press premises close by, and IPC itself dated from 1963. Car parks, a park, prefabricated dwellings and open ground then filled the gaps, while large blocks drawn on the enlarged sheet 264B are left blank here. Pasted overlays kept this risk plan current with new occupants, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The printed base heading is dated June 1889, with a 1950 copyright date. The latest dated correction is a vacancy note of March 1971 on the Blackfriars Road frontage of block 2610, and a key plan from the same group also records corrections to March 1971. Other streets on the sheet include Waterloo Road, Stamford Street, Cornwall Road, Coin Street, Aquinas Street, Theed Street, Whittlesey Street, Hatfields, Meymott Street, Joan Street, Isabella Street, Ufford Street and Short Street.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0923/9583/1643/files/P-9-001256a_6e5a9073-ed66-4854-9bfc-40d8da5abfd3.jpg?v=1792149367
goad-london-264b-se1-waterloo-the-cut-national-theatre-rooms-1889-1971-map-p-9-001257
Goad London 264B—SE1—Waterloo—The Cut—National Theatre rooms 1889 (1971) map

Charles Goad Insurance Plan of London, sheet 264B [Waterloo: The Cut, Blackfriars Road, Waterloo Telephone Exchange and the National Theatre rehearsal rooms]

Goad's enlarged fire insurance plan of London, sheet 264B, covers The Cut, Hatfields and Cornwall Road in Waterloo (SE1), and it catches the Waterloo automatic telephone exchange explicitly under construction in March 1971. The National Theatre Board rehearsal rooms here served the company then resident at the Old Vic, five years before its South Bank theatre opened in 1976. A J. Sainsbury car park marked on the sheet recalls the grocer's head office on nearby Stamford Street, which was the firm's home from 1890 until 2001. At the time, a bottle-stopper factory, the Cornwall Road bus stand, Peabody Buildings and St Andrew and St Thomas Lambeth Church completed the scene. In 1999 Southwark station opened on the Jubilee line at the corner of Blackfriars Road and The Cut. These plans were made for insurers weighing fire risk, and they were updated with pasted slips as occupiers changed, layouts were altered and buildings were cleared or raised.
