The circular polar plan divides the desert planet into 42 named territories and 18 radial sectors centred on the Polar Sink. Locations include Arrakeen, Carthag, Sietch Tabr, the Imperial Basin, Shield Wall, Funeral Plain, the Great Flat and the Cielago regions. Strongholds, spice-blow sites, storm sectors and spaces for the Treachery and Spice decks transform Frank Herbert’s imagined geography into an operational playing surface. Designed by Charles Kibler and first issued by Avalon Hill in 1979, this folding mapboard appears to be the first substantial published map—and the earliest colour-printed map—of Arrakis that we have identified. It is offered independently for display as a map, without the original box or other game components. The printed production reference 8240041 may indicate a later issue or production state, although it does not establish a precise printing date.
