Rennie's bridge was sold in 1968 to Robert McCulloch, re-erected at Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and replaced in March 1973. The sheet still shows New Fresh Wharf, beside London Bridge Wharf below Lower Thames Street, with the warehouses and handling equipment of a working River Thames frontage. The wharf was demolished in 1973–74 and became St Magnus House in 1978, with offices succeeding cargo handling. Wren's St Magnus the Martyr, the Monument of 1671–77 and Adelaide House of 1925, which was the City's first steel-framed office block, all survive. Pudding Lane was the starting point of the Great Fire of London, which broke out in Thomas Farriner’s bakery on 2 September 1666. The sheet also names Monument Station and Lloyds Bank. Goad's plans were made to rate fire risk and kept current with pasted overlays recording new occupiers, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. On this sheet the latest dated correction is a vacancy note near the Monument, dated August 1969. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in September 1947, with a 1949 copyright date, and the key plans acquired with it carry corrections as late as October 1970 and March 1971. Other streets on the sheet include Eastcheap, Gracechurch Street, King William Street, Fish Street Hill, Monument Street, Pudding Lane, Botolph Lane, Lovat Lane and St George's Lane.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0923/9583/1643/files/P-9-001114a_7af6991d-b3ca-4979-bee7-4d3803b0b728.jpg?v=1792149006
goad-london-54-ec3-king-william-gracechurch-lombard-streets-1951-1969-map-p-9-001116
Goad London 54—EC3—King William, Gracechurch & Lombard Streets 1951 (1969) map

Charles Goad Insurance Plan of London, sheet 54 [Lombard Street, King William Street, Gracechurch Street and St Clement Eastcheap]

Goad's fire insurance plan of London, sheet 54, covers Lombard Street and King William Street (EC3), the City's banking quarter, and it reads like a roll-call of vanished banks. Westminster Bank is marked as under construction in August 1969, and before the building was finished the bank had become National Westminster Bank, trading from 1 January 1970. Standard Bank, which had absorbed the Bank of West Africa in 1965, merged into Standard Chartered in November 1969. Guardian Assurance became Guardian Royal Exchange in 1968 and part of AXA in 1999, while the Royal Bank of Scotland still trades under its name. Of the two Grade I churches that survive, Hawksmoor's St Mary Woolnoth of 1716–27 has Bank station beneath it, and Wren's St Clement near Eastcheap of 1683–87 stands on Clement's Lane. Goad's plans were produced to rate fire risk and kept current with pasted overlays recording changed occupiers, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The August 1969 note marking Westminster Bank under construction is the latest dated correction. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in September 1951, with a 1951 copyright date, and it belongs to a group whose key plans were still being corrected in October 1970 and March 1971. Mondial House, the proposed International Telephone Service Centre, is labelled at foundation stage in November 1970. It was completed in 1978, closed by BT in 2004 and demolished in 2006 for Watermark Place, now Nomura's European headquarters, so its working life is over. The London Bridge approach served Rennie's bridge of 1831, which was sold in 1968 and rebuilt at Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and the successor bridge opened in 1973. Fishmongers' Hall of 1834 remains the Company's headquarters, and the sheet also marks Pountney Hill House and the site of St Martin Orgar Church by the River Thames.
