Dickins & Jones is shown filling a large block, with workrooms and packing space behind the selling floors. Trading ceased in January 2006, and the building became shops, offices and a rooftop restaurant, an example of the single-occupier department store in retreat. Liberty & Co still trades from its Tudor-revival building of 1924, timbered from the warships HMS Impregnable and HMS Hindustan. Carnaby Street was pedestrianised in October 1973, and St Thomas's Church in Kingly Street, Tenison's chapel of 1702, has since been demolished, while Government offices are also marked. Goad's plans were made to assess property and fire risk, and they were kept current with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The latest dated correction, October 1970, is a vacancy note at 33 Maddox Street. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in September 1946, with a 1950 copyright date, and the key plan acquired with the group records corrections to October 1970. British Home Stores' chain collapsed in 2016, while Regent Hall, the skating rink that William Booth bought in 1882, is still a Salvation Army centre. National Provincial Bank's name had merged into National Westminster Bank on 1 January 1970, before the final corrections were made. In October 2022 Hanover Square gained the Elizabeth line's Bond Street ticket hall. The flagship was there from 1994 until early 2021, and IKEA followed from 1 May 2025. That succession shows the changing forms of mass-market shopping, while the gown factories and cloth warehouses that then stood behind Oxford Street reveal its less visible manufacturing and wholesale economy. At 48 Margaret Street, however, the map's clothing-trade labels conceal the Speakeasy, the musicians' club of 1966–78 where the Jimi Hendrix Experience performed on 19 January 1967. Its address is identifiable, but the club itself is not named or recorded as such. C&A Modes, which had been in Britain since 1922, closed all 109 of its British stores in 2000–01, and the Midland Bank was renamed HSBC in June 1999.
