On this sheet the Langham is labelled as BBC offices and studios, with stores and workshops then filling the former hotel. The BBC sold it in 1986, and it reopened as a hotel in 1991, with production space traded for visitor accommodation. Broadcasting House of 1932 remains the BBC's headquarters, while Egton House in Langham Street, which was later Radio 1's home, was demolished in 2003 to make way for the John Peel Wing. Nash's All Souls Church stands opposite. The Regent Street Polytechnic became the Polytechnic of Central London in 1970 and is now the University of Westminster, and the sheet also marks British Council and NSPCC offices. Goad's plans were made to assess fire risk, and they carried pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The latest dated correction here is a basement and first-floor vacancy note at 15 Little Portland Street, dated October 1970. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in October 1962, with a 1962 copyright date, and the key plan acquired with the group records corrections to October 1970. The sheet is a revealing record of the West End clothing trade of its day, with shops below and workrooms above. All Saints, Butterfield's Grade I masterpiece, was consecrated in 1859 and remains an Anglo-Catholic church. Bourne \u0026amp; Hollingsworth, which had been on the Berners Street corner since 1902, closed in 1983 and became the Plaza, and the building has been Next's flagship since 2018. Waring \u0026amp; Gillow's building of 1906 survives today as shops with offices above, and it is Grade II listed. The sheet also names F. W. Woolworth and the Polytechnic School of Management Studies, which was part of what is now the University of Westminster. This was the making and wholesaling of clothes, rather than the retailing of nearby Oxford Street. These garment warehouses passed to photographic studios from the 1970s and then to media firms, and the fashion trade that remains today is mainly made up of wholesalers and head offices. The Polytechnic Portland Street Extension belonged to the Regent Street Polytechnic, which became the University of Westminster in 1992 and still has buildings on Great Portland Street. The sheet also marks basement garages and car parks. Goad's plans were kept for assessing property and fire risk, and they were corrected with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The latest dated correction here is an under-construction note of October 1970 at 63–65 Mortimer Street and 33–35 Great Titchfield Street. The sheet itself is an extension dated September 1930, and a key plan covering this area, acquired with the same group of maps, records corrections to October 1970.
