The headquarters building of 1894–95 served the Post Office until 1984 and is now Nomura House, with financial offices rebuilt within the historic exterior. Postman's Park takes its name from the postmen who rested there, and it holds Watts's Memorial to Heroic Self-Sacrifice of 1900. On the sheet, the site of Christ Church Greyfriars with St Leonard Foster marks Wren's church, which was gutted in December 1940 and has been a public garden since 1989. By contrast, St Botolph without Aldersgate, rebuilt in 1788–91, remains in use. Goad's plans were made to assess property and fire risk, and they were kept current with pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The latest dated correction on this sheet is a basement vacancy at 5 Little Britain, dated September 1969. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in April 1958, with a 1958 copyright date, and the key plans acquired with it carry corrections as late as October 1970 and March 1971. The Central Electricity Generating Board offices then filled much of it, but the Board was broken up in 1990. Its blocks gave way to the Paternoster Square of 2003, with the London Stock Exchange, offices, shops and restaurants, and this was a second rebuilding in the cathedral's setting. Stationers' Hall of 1673 remains the Company's home, and St Martin Ludgate Church and the Amen Court canonry survive. Hodder \u0026amp; Stoughton, marked on the sheet, recall the publishers of Paternoster Row, five million of whose books burned in 1940. The Old Bailey extension, shown under construction in November 1970 near the St Paul's Cathedral west front and Music School, was finished in 1972. The plan was made for fire-risk assessment and corrected by pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts and rebuilding, and November 1970 is its latest dated correction. It was resurveyed and reissued in November 1962, with a 1962 copyright date, and the key plans acquired with it carry corrections as late as October 1970 and March 1971. Car parks north of the cathedral and a bank-and-office development beside Cheapside are shown under construction in December 1969, so the sheet holds the redevelopment at an intermediate stage. The Central Electricity Generating Board offices, meanwhile, belonged to an earlier Paternoster Square, which was rebuilt again and reopened in 2003 with the London Stock Exchange among its offices and shops. The St Paul's Cathedral Choir School, in its New Change buildings of the 1960s, still trains the cathedral's boy choristers, who have been joined by girls since September 2025. The City information centre was rehoused in 2007, while St Paul's itself remains the sheet's fixed landmark. The plan was compiled to price fire risk and revised with pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and new building, and December 1969 is its latest dated correction. Here the sheet preserves that vanished City terminus, Holborn Viaduct Station, with the Southern Region railway garages and repair spaces beneath its railway. The station closed in 1990 as Thameslink's replacement route and underground station transformed this approach to the commercial centre. The Central Criminal Court still sits, extended by its South Block of 1968 to 1972. St Sepulchre's Church, the City's largest parish church, survives too, as does Cutlers' Hall of 1888 on Warwick Lane. The sheet also names Terminus Chambers and the wine and spirit vaults beneath Holborn Viaduct. Goad's working plans were prepared for property and fire-risk assessment, and they carried pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The latest dated corrections on this sheet are three vacancy annotations dated September 1969, two between Turnagain Lane and Newcastle Close and one at 23-24 Old Bailey.
