The sheet shows the Royal Academy sharing its courtyard with the Linnean Society, the Geological Society and the Chemical Society. All of them are still there today, and the Chemical Society has been the Royal Society of Chemistry since 1980. Behind Burlington House, the sheet shows the British Museum's Ethnographical Department occupying the building later known as the Museum of Mankind, which closed in 1997. That use has gone, and 6 Burlington Gardens is now part of the Royal Academy's enlarged campus, linked through to Piccadilly in 2018. Fortnum & Mason, founded in 1707, still trades at 181 Piccadilly, and the Burlington Arcade of 1819 is still patrolled by its beadles, while the Royal Arcade and Princes Arcade are also marked. Goad's plans were compiled to assess property and fire risk, and they were corrected with pasted overlays as uses changed, layouts altered and buildings fell or rose; the sheet's latest dated correction is October 1970. The sheet was reissued in September 1938, with a 1950 copyright date, and the Volume IX key plan, acquired with the same group, records corrections to October 1970. Other streets on the sheet include Albemarle Street, Jermyn Street, Burlington Gardens, Vigo Street, Sackville Street, Stafford Street and Duke Street.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0923/9583/1643/files/P-9-001080a_90a64b90-baee-40fd-a549-74645ecdd11f.jpg?v=1792148971
goad-london-213-w1-west-end-piccadilly-circus-regent-street-1950-1970-map-p-9-001081
Goad London 213—W1—West End—Piccadilly Circus—Regent Street 1950 (1970) map

Charles Goad Insurance Plan of London, sheet 213 [Regent Street, Piccadilly, Piccadilly Circus and the Café Royal]

Goad's fire insurance plan of London, sheet 213, covers Piccadilly Circus and Regent Street (W1), and it shows Swan & Edgar still on the Circus. The store closed in 1982, and after housing Tower Records, Virgin Megastore, Zavvi and The Sting in turn, the building is to be refurbished by the Crown Estate as 10 Piccadilly. The sheet also shows the Regent Palace Hotel, Europe's largest hotel in 1915, filling a whole block, with its kitchens and service accommodation identified beside the public rooms. The hotel closed in 2006 and became Quadrant 3 in 2011 after substantial demolition and rebuilding, with offices, shops, homes and restaurants, retained façades and restored and reinstated historic interiors. The Piccadilly Hotel of 1908 trades on as The Dilly, Wren's St James's Church still keeps its Southwood Garden of 1946, and the Scotch House is also named. Goad's plans were made for fire-risk assessment, and they were updated by pasted slips recording changed occupancy, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The latest dated correction, October 1970, is an alteration note on the police station between Swallow Street and Regent Street, which has since been demolished. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in October 1950, with a 1950 copyright date, and the Volume IX key plan, acquired with the same group, records corrections to October 1970.
