Corrected to 8 April 1916, it records the sector a year before the Battle of Arras opened on 9 April 1917, when British and Commonwealth troops emerged from tunnels beneath the city to attack across this ground. The combination of a complete town plan with battlefield detail makes it one of the most readable of the Arras sheets, keeping individual streets, houses and field boundaries.
