Streets, railway and Underground lines and termini, parks, cemeteries, docks and postal districts are differentiated by vivid original colour. Issued in 1886 by Wyld, Geographer to the Queen, the map was designed for practical use: it is dissected into panels and mounted on linen so that it could fold into a portable case. This example retains strong colour and extensive topographical detail, with the expected wear, toning and panel marks of a working folding map, but no case or slipcase is presently accompanying it.
