TITLE/CAPTION/BRIEF DETAILS: MR. STANLEY'S ARRIVAL AT CAIRO - ENTERING SHEPHEARD'S HOTEL AFTER HAVING VISITED THE KHEDIVE. Henry Morton STANLEY (1841-1904) was the famous explorer who found Dr. Livingstone. Coincidentally, also in 1841, Samuel Shepheard, an Englishman, became manager of the then British Hotel, Cairo , EGYPT . He bought it 4 years later and renamed it Shepheard's Hotel. It became a very famous international Hotel in Victorian times.
