The site of Camden Lock Market is still Dingwall’s packing-case factory and timber yard, the future TV-am studios are the Henlys motor depot, and the Stables Market is still the railway’s stables and horse hospital, while the Aerated Bread Company’s canalside works, Rowton House, the former Gilbey drinks premises, the Royal Veterinary College and Regent’s Park Barracks stand among clothing workshops, piano repairers and cold stores. The plan is anchored by the Royal Veterinary College, which was founded in 1791 and still teaches here, with the Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital alongside it today. Next door, the sheet shows St Pancras Hospital, which was run under University College Hospital from 1948 and gave up two acres in 2023 for Oriel, the Moorfields and UCL eye centre planned for 2027. Around the college and the hospital, the sheet records what was then a district of handling and distribution. It names the London Midland Region goods depot, the Post Office transport depot, the Central Metal Storage warehouses, the Atlantic Metal Company and London Electricity Board premises. Derelict coal-chute ground by Camley Street became Camley Street Natural Park in 1985, and the London Electricity Board itself was privatised in 1990. Such plans were used to price fire risk, and they were kept current by slips pasted over changed uses, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The sheet is centred on Rowton House of 1905, which was the last and largest of the Rowton Houses for working men. Today the building serves a kindred purpose as Arlington House, which reopened in June 2010 after rebuilding and provides supported accommodation for homeless adults, training and employment support, affordable flats and office space. The canalside has been unrecognisable since Hawley Wharf opened in August 2021, though Hawley Locks, Kentish Town Lock, the railway viaduct and St Martin's Gardens remain fixed points. Clothing and hat manufacture, scientific-instrument making, frozen-food premises and workshops beneath the railway reveal Camden's varied production and storage economy. Hawley Wharf's later combination of homes, market space, a cinema, workspace and workshops shows how part of this industrial district has been adapted to a broader mixture of living, leisure and work. On the sheet itself, the road-making materials depot label names the London Borough of Camden, which was formed in April 1965. The plan was made for fire-risk assessment and carried pasted revisions recording changed uses, altered layouts, demolition and new building. Its latest dated correction is a vacancy note at 47-49 Kentish Town Road, dated February 1970. The Aerated Bread Company's canalside works ceased production in 1982, and Grimshaw's Sainsbury's took its place in 1988. In 2019 the store became the first purpose-built supermarket to be listed Grade II. Terry Farrell converted the Henlys motor depot, a 1930s garage, for TV-am, complete with egg-cups above Regent's Canal, and the station was on air from 1 February 1983. MTV bought the building in 1993, and Paramount holds it now. In the sheet's day, George Newnes publishing premises, butchery and cold stores filled out the trades. Bodley and Garner's St Michael's Church of 1881 still serves the parish, and the sheet marks Hawley Locks on the canal. Such plans were used to price fire risk and were kept current with pasted slips recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. Dingwalls opened as a music venue in 1973, and the market followed in March 1974. The former railway stables and horse hospital beside Chalk Farm Road later became Stables Market.
