The historic provinces of Awa, Tosa, Iyo and Sanuki are boldly colour-coded, while portrait medallions identify the temples’ principal sacred images. Routes, distances, railways, sea passages, ports and post offices overlay devotional geography with the modern transport network used by interwar pilgrims. The reverse, printed in blue, supplies the temples’ goeika or devotional verses, practical advice and an image of Kōbō Daishi. Issued by Asano Shōten outside Kirihataji, Temple 10, this is probably the firm’s 1931 state: Temple 30 retains the earlier name Anrakuji, which Asano’s own records distinguish from its revised 1935 issue.
