The sorting office has since been replaced by Rathbone Square, completed in 2017, whose offices, homes and shops now stand around a garden. This marks a clear change from handling mail to commercial and residential use. The basement club marked at 100–102 Oxford Street is the 100 Club, which was already operating and still hosts live music today. Its Punk Special of 20–21 September 1976 came after the map's final revision, bringing the Sex Pistols, the Clash, the Damned, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Buzzcocks, Subway Sect, Stinky Toys and Chris Spedding with the Vibrators to the same small stage. The Berners Hotel reopened in September 2013 as The London Edition. The Middlesex Hospital Nurses' Home served a hospital that closed in 2005 and whose site is now Fitzroy Place. The nurses' home shown here survives as York House, converted into flats in 1997. The North Thames Gas Board was absorbed into the British Gas Corporation in 1973, and the sheet also names the International Business Machines school and offices and the National Society for Handicapped Children. Clothing factories and gown, knitwear, wool and leather premises around Newman Street, Berners Street and Eastcastle Street reveal Fitzrovia's concentration of garment production and wholesale trade. Fashion remains visible in Eastcastle Street's shops, including Folk, but these now sit within a district also known for design, advertising and digital media. Goad's plans were produced to assess property and fire risk, and they were revised with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The latest dated corrections on this sheet are vacancy annotations of October 1970. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in October 1956, with a 1956 copyright date, and a key plan covering this area, acquired with the same group of maps, records corrections to October 1970. These labels show how closely entertainment, specialist retailing and small-scale production were then interwoven, with workrooms behind and above the public frontages. The radio and television trade here boomed on war-surplus stock in the 1950s and has since dwindled. The dance hall and basement club marked beneath the Berkeley Cinema at 31 Tottenham Court Road were the Blarney Club premises, where UFO opened on 23 December 1966. Pink Floyd and Soft Machine were central to its psychedelic nights, and the Jimi Hendrix Experience appeared on 19 February 1967. UFO left later in 1967, before the sheet's final revision, so the map preserves its setting under a generic club label. La Continentale Cinema, which began as the Majestic Picturedrome of 1912, and the neighbouring Berkeley Cinema closed on 31 August 1976 and were demolished in 1977 to make way for offices and shops. The three-screen Classic opened on the site in 1981 and is now the Odeon Tottenham Court Road. The sheet also marks the Hanway Street basement cinema and film store. Behind the lighting and furniture showrooms of the retail frontage, Jaeger's tailoring factory on Chenies Street and John Line's wallpaper premises then occupied substantial buildings. Neither firm lasted, as John Line \u0026amp; Sons was dissolved in 1988 and Jaeger survives only as a brand that Marks \u0026amp; Spencer bought in 2021. The National Central Library is shown in its 1966 Store Street building, and the library was absorbed into the British Library in 1973. The sheet also names University of London offices and records stores, Whitfield Street Police Station and the Bedford Corner Hotel. Produced to assess property and fire risk, the sheets were amended with pasted overlays as uses changed, layouts altered and buildings were replaced.
