It reopened in 1953 after being gutted in wartime. The Merchant Navy War Memorial names 36,000 seafarers. Tower Hill Underground Station moved to its present site in February 1967, and the Sir John Cass Nautical College joined the City of London Polytechnic in 1970. America Square, The Crescent and Circus Street were then remnants of George Dance the Younger's scheme of 1768–74 beside the Fenchurch Street railway approaches. The bombed Circus was later cleared for road widening, though two Crescent houses survive. The sheet also names Wakefield Gardens and Midland Bank. Goad's plans were made for fire-risk assessment and kept current with pasted overlays recording new tenants, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The latest dated correction on this sheet is a vacancy note by America Square, dated November 1967. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in September 1951, with a 1951 copyright date, and key plans acquired with the group were corrected as late as October 1970 and March 1971.
