The complex was Pearl's headquarters from 1914 to 1989, and at the time of the resurvey it had just been completed with its west block of 1959–60. It is now the Rosewood London hotel, with its former banking hall used for dining, and it stands as a clear case of insurance offices turned over to hospitality. Nearby, the sheet shows Beckley House, New Century House, Holborn Telephone Exchange, the London Electricity Board workshops and Procter House bridging Procter Street. Red Lion Square still has Conway Hall, which has been the ethical society's home since 1929. Goad's plans were drawn to assess property and fire risk, and they were revised with pasted overlays recording new uses, altered layouts, demolition and rebuilding. The latest dated corrections on this sheet are vacancy annotations in block 1934, dated September 1970. The sheet was resurveyed and reissued in October 1960, with a 1960 copyright date, and the key plans acquired with it carry corrections as late as October 1970 and March 1971. Other streets on the sheet include Red Lion Street, Fisher Street, Catton Street, Eagle Street, Dane Street, Gate Street, Whetstone Park and Remnant Street.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0923/9583/1643/files/P-9-001165a_9ad51136-4896-4bb8-b491-27614b83ff5d.jpg?v=1792149134
goad-london-204-wc1-wc2-high-holborn-gray-s-inn-bedford-row-1960-1970-map-p-9-001166
Goad London 204—WC1/WC2—High Holborn—Gray's Inn—Bedford Row 1960 (1970) map

Charles Goad Insurance Plan of London, sheet 204 [Holborn: High Holborn, Bedford Row, Gray's Inn and Lincoln's Inn Fields]

Goad's fire insurance plan of London, sheet 204, covers legal Holborn between Bedford Row and Chancery Lane (WC1 and WC2), running from Gray's Inn Place and Fulwood Place down to Lincoln's Inn Fields. Lincoln's Inn Stone Buildings, Sir Robert Taylor's range of 1774–80, are still barristers' chambers, and Bedford Row's Georgian houses have since filled with the Bar's leading sets. First Avenue House, the office block at 42–49 High Holborn, was bomb-damaged in the Second World War and is today the Central Family Court. The plan also names the Ministry of Defence offices, Princeton College, Princeton House and Lincoln House. Photo-printing, lithography and bookbinding around Hand Court and Brownlow Street, with publishers in Great Turnstile, reveal a concentration of trades that reproduced and circulated printed information. Their presence beside legal Holborn records the physical work behind documents and books, while court papers can now be filed and managed electronically through HMCTS's E-Filing service. Goad's working plans were made to assess property and fire risk, and they were kept current with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building.
