These are pre-AOC geographical and commercial divisions, rather than the legally controlled appellations introduced during the 1930s. The map appears to have been prepared for Nicolas’s 1925 Le Vin de Bordeaux—part of its celebrated Monseigneur le Vin series—a volume issued with a folding map of the Gironde.
