Issued to Assault Force U before D-Day and drawn to lie over Admiralty Chart 2073, it lays out anchorages U1 to U7 on a lettered and numbered grid, with the fire-support area, landing-craft ferry-control areas and the Gooseberry blockship breakwater, bounded by screening lines wittily named the Mason Line and the Dixie Line. BIGOT was the invasion's highest level of secrecy, reserved for those who needed to know where and when it would strike. The overlay was kept by Lieutenant Carl M. Good Jr, whose subchaser SC-1301 spent D-Day shepherding landing craft between the troopships and Utah Beach; his account ends with the ship ordered to join the area screen.
