Berann, printed in 1969 for the provincial tourist office at Bolzano. Viewed southwards from the Brenner Pass, the panorama embraces Bolzano, Merano, Bressanone and Brunico, the principal roads and railways, and the celebrated peaks and resorts of the Dolomites, Ortler and Ötztal Alps. Berann combines geographical clarity with exceptionally dramatic modelling of the mountains, producing a map intended both for orientation and as an alluring advertisement for the region. Its infrastructure reflects South Tyrol’s accelerating development as a skiing destination: the cableway from Riscone, immediately south of Brunico, to Plan de Corones is shown, having opened on Christmas Day 1963, while the former Dobbiaco–Cortina railway is omitted following closure of that section in 1962. At Caldaro the dashed ascent to Passo Mendola represents the historic funicular, opened in 1903, rather than a projected cableway.

https://www.antiquemapsandprints.com/fr/products/dolomiti-dolomites-alto-adige-panoramic-mountain-bird-s-eye-view-berann-1969-map-p-6-112340
