It made history as the first Tour to start outside France, beginning in Amsterdam, crossing into Belgium, and continuing through France to the traditional finish in Paris; the race also reintroduced the team time trial and split stages. Frenchman Louison Bobet secured his second consecutive Tour victory, ahead of Swiss riders Ferdinand Kübler and Fritz Schär. Kübler won the points classification, while Spain’s Federico Bahamontes claimed the mountains title. This edition is remembered for internationalising the Grand Départ and confirming Bobet as the dominant Tour rider of the mid-1950s.

https://www.antiquemapsandprints.com/fr/products/l-itineraire-du-tour-de-france-le-miroir-des-sports-cycling-route-map-1954-p-7-028342
