The plan sets twenty-five suggested routes in red across the gap between the capital’s separate tramway networks. Its printed reference identifies three of them as subways, and these are the broken red lines: Knightsbridge to Aldgate, Grosvenor Place and Hyde Park, and Aldersgate Street to the Post Office. Blue lines show the London County Council system, with its authorised but unbuilt lines dotted, among them the Kingsway tram subway under construction. Prepared by the Ordnance Survey at three inches to the mile for the Commission, the plan also carries its proposed east–west and north–south Main Avenues. The Kingsway subway opened in 1906; the Knightsbridge–Aldgate tunnel never did.
