A scarce mid 19th century map of Hammersmith, extending from the river north to what is now Willesden Junction and Harlesden ("Holsdon"). The map shows many individual houses around Hammersmith and Shepherds Bush, although much of the area shown was still open countryside; the original field patterns are shown. King Street, Hammersmith Broadway, Shepherds Bush, Goldhawk Road ("Gould Hawk Lane"), Uxbridge Road, Upper and Lower Mall, and Brook Green are all named. The Grand Junction (now Union) canal and Harrow Road are marked at the north end of the map, along with "Wormholt Scrubs" (Wormwood Scrubs). The London & Birmingham Railway (now the Bakerloo line), and the Great Western Railway bisect the map, while the Thames Junction Railway (now the Overground between Willesden Junction and West Brompton) marks the eastern edge of the map.
