TITLE/CONTENT OF MAP: 'London Transport - Diagram of lines - Number 1 1973'

This edition of the Underground diagram has been redrawn with an enlarged central area. There is a note that Strand Station is closed between June 1973 and 1976, and a red cross overprint on the station name also indicates the closure. All the station names on this map have been capitalised (on previous versions only the first letter was capitalised, and the title 'The London Underground' has been added to the key. The escalator link between Bank and Monument Stations is now a vertical zig zag beacuse of the larger area inside the Circle line. The Bakerloo line between Queens Park and Watford Junction is shown as a brown and white line indicating a peak hours service only. The Victoria lines is shown as complete through to Brixton. The roundels are plain red both on the map itself and on the front cover.
