It records Bordeaux’s wine geography before the modern AOC system formalised appellation boundaries. At lower right is the dated ink stamp “H. J. Hamande \/ 26 Jan 1929 \/ Bordeaux”. Contemporary evidence connects Hamande with the Bordeaux wine trade, giving the stamp pertinent commercial provenance rather than merely anonymous ownership.
