This was the making and wholesaling of clothes, rather than the retailing of nearby Oxford Street. These garment warehouses passed to photographic studios from the 1970s and then to media firms, and the fashion trade that remains today is mainly made up of wholesalers and head offices. The Polytechnic Portland Street Extension belonged to the Regent Street Polytechnic, which became the University of Westminster in 1992 and still has buildings on Great Portland Street. The sheet also marks basement garages and car parks. Goad's plans were kept for assessing property and fire risk, and they were corrected with pasted overlays recording changes of use, altered layouts, demolition and new building. The latest dated correction here is an under-construction note of October 1970 at 63–65 Mortimer Street and 33–35 Great Titchfield Street. The sheet itself is an extension dated September 1930, and a key plan covering this area, acquired with the same group of maps, records corrections to October 1970.
