East Street is home to the market that Walworth calls The Lane, which has been trading officially since 1880 and is still busy six days a week. St Mark's was built in the 1860s, damaged in the Second World War and later declared redundant. Later coloured revisions of this plan record a playground and housing on the former church site, as well as the consolidation of neighbouring plots. Numbered shop and residential plots and the South Eastern and Chatham Railway complete the outline. Outline plans of this kind served fire insurance assessment, recording streets, footprints and plot divisions with less occupancy and risk detail than the coloured plans. Goad's working plans took pasted overlays to record changes of use, demolition and new construction. The printed base heading is dated June 1901. The pasted revisions on this sheet carry no dates, and a key plan acquired with the group records corrections to March 1971.
