Though centred on the Bahamas, it is notable for its early depiction of South Florida. The chart extends from Cape Florida eastward to Abaco, Eleuthera and New Providence, and includes coastal profiles of Gun Cay, Bimini and Abaco, with their lighthouses. The map marks the site of Cape Florida Lighthouse, first constructed in 1825 and regarded as the earliest surviving historic structure in South Florida. It was attacked and burned during the Second Seminole War in July 1836, contemporary with the publication of this chart, and constructed by 1847.

https://www.antiquemapsandprints.com/products/part-of-the-florida-providence-channels-by-richard-owen-bahamas-1836-map-p-6-111227
