The certificate is dated 15 June 1927 in manuscript. The hotel opened in 1914 as Le Golf Hôtel, a 100-room Belle Époque palace designed by the Swiss architect Julien Flengenheimer. The Bernheim brothers were German émigrés who later established a distillery business in the United States.
