Harrison shows three hypothetical vulnerabilities: a German polar approach through Canada, a Japanese northern Pacific approach, and an East Coast threat from South America through the West Indies. Instead of viewing the United States outward, the map views the US from the persepctive of its  actual and potential enemies.
