A highly detailed early coast-to-coast map of the United States. The border of the Oregon Country - named on the map as the "Columbia District" fur trading region - extends from the 42nd to near the 54th parallel. Many Indian Tribes, early forts and the Spanish Missions of Upper California are named. The details of the Lewis & Clark, Zebulon Pike and Hunt & Randel expeditions are in evidence, although the Jedidiah Smith reports are not yet. The two "supposed" mythical rivers extending from Lakes Timpanogos and Teguayo to the Pacific Ocean are shown, based upon the lost Walker map. Arkansas Territory extends west into present day Oklahoma. Texas is named. The Rio Colorado does not flow as far as the Sea of Cortez.
